What I Offer

On-site record retrieval at the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City and other Northern Utah repositories, plus online record lookups and targeted searches.

On-Site

On-Site Record Retrieval

I provide on-site document retrieval and targeted record searches at the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City and other Northern Utah repositories. I can also access the FamilySearch Library's Special Collections.

This service is ideal for researchers who need access to materials not available online, including books, microfilm, archival collections, manuscript materials, and local records.

Where I work: "The FamilySearch Library" is the main research library in Salt Lake City, not a local family history center. On-site requests are carried out there and at other Northern Utah repositories.

Languages: My primary research language is English. I may also accept projects involving German, Latin, Scandinavian, and Romance-language records when the records are within my experience and can be reliably interpreted. Records in other Latin-alphabet languages may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Projects requiring expertise in non-Latin scripts may be referred to another researcher.

Rates

$25
per hour · one-hour minimum

The one-hour minimum applies to the entire request, not each individual record — quick, single-record lookups are always welcome!

Travel to Provo and other local repositories is available upon request. Travel time may be billed accordingly.

Please contact me with specific details about the record or collection you would like searched so I can provide an estimate.

Online

Good to Know

This service focuses on specific record lookups and targeted searches rather than extensive family history research. While not every search will result in a record being found, I will communicate the results of my search.

Pricing: $25 per hour (one-hour minimum)

Quick, single-record lookups are always welcome! The one-hour minimum means that the minimum charge for a research request is $25, even if the work takes less than an hour. This minimum applies to the entire request, not each individual record. Multiple records can be included in a single request, and any additional research time is billed at my regular hourly rate.

Services May Include

  • Book and microfilm lookups
  • Digital images of requested pages
  • Targeted searches within specified collections
  • Verification of citations or source references
  • Brief research summaries, if requested

What You Will Receive

  • Digital images of retrieved materials
  • Complete source information for citation purposes
  • Clear communication regarding search results
  • Notification if requested materials cannot be located

Get In Touch

If you would like to request a record lookup or inquire about retrieval services, please include as much detail as possible about the record or collection you would like searched (book title, call number, microfilm number, names, dates, etc.).

I typically respond within 1–2 business days. If you have not received a response after that time, please check your spam or junk folder, as email providers occasionally filter legitimate messages.
